Why put a work order on hold?
This feature is particularly useful when you are using notifications to customers. Indeed, it makes possible to communicate a more precise time slot.
If you have a large time slot, e.g. 9.00am - 6.00pm, putting it on hold will restrict it to the smallest time slot that exists within that time slot, for example 5.00pm - 6.00pm.
The confirmed work orders have priority over pending ones, and pending operations have priority over planned ones. Thus, when you add operations to an existing route and restart the optimisation, if not all work order operations are assigned to a route due to the workers' schedules the first operations that will not be taken into account will be the planned ones, then the pending ones and finally confirmed ones.
