AntsRoute lets you automatically calculate the price of your jobs or deliveries. This allows you to track the revenue generated by your routes.
The price of each job can be made up of several components: a base price, the price of items, the price of the service type, and one or more custom calculations based on your custom fields.
☝️ Good to know: For a custom calculation, you can multiply a number-type custom field by a fixed value or by another custom field. For example: Number of parcels × Price per parcel.
☝️ Good to know: You can choose the currency used to calculate job prices.
In this article, you'll learn how to:
- Enable automatic job price calculation.
- Define the components that make up the price.
- Add a custom calculation.
- View the revenue generated by your routes.
- Hide or display prices in the mobile application.
Enable job price calculation
To get started:
- Go to the "Settings" module.
- From the side menu, under "Global settings", click "Prices of deliveries".
- Enable the "Price calculation for deliveries" option.
Once this option is enabled, AntsRoute automatically calculates the price of each delivery based on the components you define on this page.
Define the components that make up the price
In the "Price composition" section, you can choose the components to be added together to calculate the final price of each job.
Fixed price
Under "Fixed price", enter the fixed amount to be applied to each job.
For example, with a base price of €10, each job starts at €10, to which other components can then be added.
💡 Tip: If you do not want to apply a base price, enter 0.
Item prices
Enable "Prices of items" if you want to add the total price of the associated items to the job price.
Service type price
Enable "Prices of types of service" to add the price defined for the service type associated with the job.
Add a custom calculation
The "Custom calculation" section lets you calculate part of the price based on the values entered in your custom fields.
You can create a calculation by multiplying two elements together. Each element can be a custom field or a fixed value.
For example:
- Number of floors × €10
- Number of parcels × Price per parcel
To add a custom calculation:
- Under "Custom calculation", click "Add".
- Click "Select an element" and choose the first element to use in the calculation.
- In the second "Select an element" field, choose the element by which the first one should be multiplied.
- If necessary, click "Add" next to "If" to define one or more conditions for applying the calculation.
- To add another calculation to the job price, click "+ Add".
- Once you have finished configuring your calculation, click "Save".
☝️ Good to know: The ability to select two variables allows you to create prices that adapt to the information specific to each job. For example, if the "Number of parcels" and "Price per parcel" fields contain 5 and €3 respectively, the amount added to the price will be 5 × €3 = €15.
Add conditions to the calculation
You can define one or more conditions so that a custom calculation is applied only in specific situations.
These conditions can be based on a custom field or on geographical distance.
Geographical distance corresponds to a range expressed in kilometres. It is calculated from the site address. If you use the Pickup & Delivery features, the distance is calculated from the pickup address.
💡 Tip: If you create several conditions based on geographical distance, make sure that the ranges do not overlap.
Example of a job price calculation
Let's take a delivery with the following settings:
- Base price: €10
- Number of floors: 2
- Price per floor: €10
The delivery price is:
€10 + (2 × €10) = €30
With two custom fields, you can also create a calculation in which both values are variable. For example:
- Base price: €10
- Number of parcels: 5
- Price per parcel: €3
The delivery price is then:
€10 + (5 × €3) = €25
You can combine several custom calculations. For example, for a delivery to the second floor at a distance of 25 km:
€10 + (2 × €10) + (25 × €1) = €55
☝️ Good to know: When manually scheduling your jobs, the "Price" field is updated according to the information you enter.
☝️ Good to know: If you use scheduling or rescheduling links sent to your customers, you can also display the updated job price in these links.
View route revenue
Once you have configured the price calculation, go to "Organize" > "Schedule".
The "Revenue" indicator corresponds to the sum of the prices of all jobs scheduled across all routes on the selected date.
To view the revenue for a specific route, click the name of the relevant agent.
☝️ Good to know: If you have also enabled the route cost calculation feature, the "Revenue" indicator is replaced by the "Margin" indicator.
Hide or display job prices in the mobile application
You can choose whether your drivers or agents can view job prices in the mobile application.
To change this setting:
- Go to "Settings".
- From the side menu, click "Mobile application".
- Enable or disable the "Enable display of item and/or delivery prices" option.
- Click "Save".
Key takeaways
The price calculation feature allows you to automate job pricing by combining several components. With the new interface, your custom calculations are also more flexible: you can multiply a variable by a fixed value or multiply two variables together.
The price calculated for each job then allows AntsRoute to automatically determine the revenue generated by your routes.
