Introduction
Custom fields associated with routes allow you to ask drivers to enter information about their route directly from the AntsRoute mobile application.
Depending on your needs, this information can be requested at the start or at the end of the route.
These fields are particularly useful for carrying out checks before departure, checking the condition of a vehicle, or collecting information at the end of the day.

Examples of use
Route custom fields can be used to collect:
- vehicle mileage;
- a photo of the odometer;
- the condition of the vehicle;
- confirmation that the required equipment is present in the vehicle;
- a pre-departure checklist;
- information to be entered at the end of the route.
Step 1: Create custom fields
Before you can ask drivers to enter information about their routes, you must first create your custom fields in the settings.
⚠️ To create a custom field, you must first create a category.
1. Access the settings
- Log in to your AntsRoute account.
- Open the Settings menu.
- Click on Custom fields.
- Select the Route tab.
This tab allows you to create fields that drivers will complete at the start or end of their routes.
2. Create a category
Categories allow you to group and organize custom fields. For each category, you must also determine when the driver will be asked to enter the information.
To create a category:
- Click on Create a category.
- Enter the category name.
- Select the input time:
- Route start;
- Route end.
- Click on Save.
Examples of categories:
- Pre-departure vehicle check;
- Equipment on board;
- End-of-route information.
☝️ Good to know: The input time is defined at the category level. All fields added to this category will therefore be displayed to the driver at the same time.
3. Add a custom field
Once you have created the category, you can add one or more custom fields.
- Click on Create a field.
- Enter the field name.
- Select the category in which the field will be displayed.
- Choose the field type.
- Specify whether the field is mandatory.
- Save.
If you make a field required, the driver will need to complete it at the specified time before they can proceed with the validation.
Step 2: Complete the fields from the mobile application
Once the custom fields have been configured, they are automatically displayed to the driver in the mobile application at the time defined for their category.
At the start of the route
If the selected input time is Route start, the fields are displayed to the driver when they start their route.
They can then enter the requested information, such as the vehicle mileage, its condition, or confirmation that the necessary equipment is present.
At the end of the route
If the selected input time is Route end, the fields are displayed to the driver when they end their route.
This allows you to collect end-of-day information, such as the final mileage or the condition of the vehicle after the route.
⚠️ If a field is defined as mandatory, the driver must complete it to validate this step.
Conclusion
Custom fields associated with routes allow you to collect information about an entire route directly from the mobile application.
You can choose to request this information:
- at the start of the route, to carry out checks before departure;
- at the end of the route, to collect the necessary information once the route has been completed.
By using categories and required fields when necessary, you can create checklists tailored to your business processes and ensure that important information is entered by your drivers.
