The 'Vehicle Assignment Schedule' feature allows you to temporarily assign a vehicle to another agent for a specific date or period. This is particularly useful when multiple agents share the same vehicle on a rotating basis.
What is the purpose of the Vehicle Assignment Schedule?
When you create a new agent in AntsRoute, a vehicle is assigned to them by default. However, in certain situations (replacements, internal organization, vehicle turnover, etc.), you may want to temporarily change the vehicle assigned to an agent.
With the Vehicle Assignment Schedule, you can:
- Assign a vehicle to another agent for one or more specific dates.
- Clearly visualize upcoming assignments in a table.
- Better manage a fleet of vehicles shared among several agents.
⚠️ Important: When a vehicle is reassigned to another agent for a specific period, the original agent will no longer have a vehicle assigned during that time. If a route is already scheduled for that agent, it will be unscheduled automatically.
Steps to assign a vehicle to another agent
- Go to the 'Resources' module.
- Click on the 'Vehicle Assignment Schedule' tab.
- Click on the 'Add Assignment' button.
- Select an agent.
- Choose a vehicle from the list (identifiable by its license plate and the color associated with the agent to whom the vehicle is assigned by default).
- Add one or more assignment periods.
- Click 'Save'.
💡 The vehicle will then be visible in the cell of the table that corresponds to the selected agent and date. It will retain the color of the agent to whom it is assigned by default, helping you quickly identify it in the schedule.
Tip: Quick assignment from the table
You can also assign a vehicle directly from the table:
- Select a month in the calendar.
- Click the cell that corresponds to the date and agent you want to assign a vehicle to.
- The agent and date will be pre-selected in the assignment window.
- You’ll just need to select the vehicle to assign.
🙋 Good to know:
- In the 'Organize' module, under the 'Agenda' tab, the license plate of the vehicle assigned to each agent is displayed.
- If an agent has no assigned vehicle during a specific period, the message “No vehicle” will appear on their row in the schedule.
⚠️ Impact on existing routes: If routes have already been planned during the updated period, the new vehicle assignment may affect the current organization. Make sure to re-optimize your routes to maintain a coherent schedule.
