The AntsRoute software allows you to define capacities for your vehicles and deliveries.
A capacity refers to a numerical constraint such as:
- a weight (kg),
- a volume (m³),
- a number of pallets,
- a number of parcels,
- etc.
This helps you prevent a vehicle from being overloaded and ensures realistic route planning.
The 3 types of capacities managed by AntsRoute
For each vehicle, you can define:
1️⃣ Maximum vehicle capacity
This is the total limit that the vehicle can carry across its entire route.
Example:
If a vehicle can carry a maximum of 10 pallets, you enter 10.
The software will not schedule more than 10 pallets on that route.
2️⃣ Minimum capacity per delivery
This is the minimum quantity the vehicle must carry per stop.
Example:
If a vehicle must carry at least 2 pallets per delivery, it will only be assigned to deliveries requiring 2 pallets or more.
3️⃣ Maximum capacity per delivery
This is the maximum quantity the vehicle can carry for a single customer.
Example:
If a vehicle cannot carry more than 2 pallets per delivery, it will not be assigned to a delivery exceeding that quantity.
Step 1: Create a capacity
- Go to the “Settings” module.
- Click on the “Capacities” tab.
- Click on the “+” button.
- Enter a “Name”.
- Enter a “Unit”.
- Determine the “Validation mode”.
- Enter a “Default value” if necessary.
- Click on the “Save” button.
💡 What is the default value used for?
It automatically pre-fills a quantity for each new delivery you create.
🙋 Tip: Organising the order of capacities
You can:
- sort capacities alphabetically (A → Z or Z → A),
- or change their position using drag and drop.
The order defined here will then be applied:
- when planning deliveries,
- in the mobile application.
Step 2: Define the capacity of each vehicle
Once you have created your capacities, you must specify the carrying capacity for each vehicle.
- Go to the “Resources” module.
- Click on the “Vehicles” tab.
- Click on “...” > “Edit”.
- Enter, for each capacity, a positive number with at most three decimal places.
- Click on the “Save” button.
💡 You can use decimal values with up to three digits after the decimal point (e.g. 2.500).
☝️ Good to know: You can access capacity management directly from a vehicle’s profile by clicking the “Manage capacities” button. You will then be redirected to the dedicated tab where you can add or edit capacities.
Step 3: Enter the quantities to be carried for a delivery
When creating or editing a delivery, you will find a Capacities section.
Simply enter the quantity to be transported for each capacity.
Example:
If the delivery includes 3 pallets, simply enter 3 in the corresponding field.
Importing capacities via a file
You can also define quantities using an import file.
To do this:
- Add a column named:
Cap_XXX
👉 Replace XXX with the exact name of the capacity
Example: Cap_Weight - Enter the quantity to be delivered in each cell.
Example: If the first delivery includes 3 pallets, simply enter 3 in the cell.
