Introduction
Custom fields linked to customers allow you to store permanent information related to a customer.
This information is visible to planners and drivers during delivery.

Examples of use
Customer custom fields can be used to record:
- an access code
- an apartment number
- the presence of an animal
- access instructions
This information will automatically be available during every delivery at that customer’s location.
Step 1: Create the custom fields
Before you can fill in custom fields in a customer file, you must first create them in the AntsRoute settings.
⚠️ To create a custom field, you must first create a category in which the field will be placed.
1. Access the custom fields settings
- Log in to your AntsRoute account.
- Open the Settings menu.
- Click on Custom fields.
- Select the Customer file tab.
This tab allows you to create fields that will be used in customer files.
2. Create a category
Categories are used to group custom fields and organise how they are displayed.
To create a category:
- Click Create a category.
- Enter the category name.
- Click Save.
Example of a category:

3. Add a custom field
Once the category has been created, you can add a custom field.
- Click Create a field.
- Enter the field name (for example: Gate code).
- Select the category where the field will be displayed.
- Choose the field type (text, number, dropdown list, date, etc.).
- Save.
Available Options
When creating the field, several options can be enabled:
- Mandatory field: the field must be completed to save the information.
- Indexed field: indexed fields can be searched using the global search to make deliveries easier to find.
- Private field: the field will not be visible in the drivers’ mobile application.
Once the custom field has been created, you will then be able to fill it in directly in the customer file.
Step 2: Organise the display order
You can change the order of the fields to improve the readability of the information.
To do this:
- Go to the list of fields within the category.
- Drag and drop the fields to change their position.
Step 3: Fill in the fields in the customer file
- Open the customer file.
- Go to the Custom fields section.
- Complete the information.
- Save the file.
☝️ Importing customers :
It is also possible to fill in custom fields when importing a customer file.
To do this, simply add a column to your Excel or CSV file with a header that exactly matches the name of the custom field defined during its creation.
Example
If you created a custom field called Gate code, you must add a column named Gate code and enter the corresponding value for each customer in that column.
Where is this information visible?
The information entered is visible:
- in the customer file
- in the associated deliveries
- in the driver’s mobile application
Conclusion
Customer custom fields allow you to centralise important information and avoid entering it again for each delivery.
