Sectorisation allows you to define service areas and assign agents or delivery drivers to these areas. This feature helps you organise your operations, reduce travel distances and more easily assign jobs to the right agents.
Once sectorisation is configured, AntsRoute takes these areas into account when scheduling jobs.
💡 Sectorisation is available from the Essential plan.
☝️ Before you begin
Before creating your sectorisation plans, please keep the following rules in mind:
- Sectorisation is linked to a single site (or warehouse). If you use multiple sites, you will need to create a plan for each one.
- An agent can only be assigned to one sector.
- Two sectorisation plans cannot have the same application days.
Example:
If a plan is applied on Monday, you will not be able to create another plan that also applies on Monday.
Step 1: Activate the sectorisation
To begin, you need to enable the option in your AntsRoute account.
- Go to the Settings module.
- From the Settings tab, click on General.
- Enable the “Activate the sectorisation” option.
- Click on Save.
The feature is now available in your account.
Step 2: Add a sector plan
You can then create a plan that will define the rules for applying your sectors.
💡 Reminder:
Two sectorisation plans cannot have the same application days. For example, if you have a “Sectorisation Plan A” with an application day set to Monday, you cannot create a “Sectorisation Plan B” with the same application day Monday.
Steps to follow:
- Go to the Settings module.
- Click on the Sectorisation tab.
- Click on the “+” button in the top right-hand corner.
- Enter a Name for this sector plan.
- Determine the Sectorisation mode.
- Set the days on which the plan will apply.
- Click on Save button.
Choose a sectorisation mode :
When creating a sectorisation plan, you can choose between two modes:
-
Flexible mode:
Customers located outside defined sectors are automatically assigned to the closest service sector. -
Strict mode:
Jobs for customers located outside the defined sectors remain unassigned.
Example with flexible mode:
Agent A is assigned to Sector A and Agent B is assigned to Sector B. If you schedule a job for a customer whose address is located in Sector A, you will not be able to assign the job to Agent B, even if Agent A is unavailable.
However, if you schedule a job for a customer located outside all defined sectors, the job can be assigned to either Agent A or Agent B.
Step 3: Managing sectors in the sector plan
Once your plan has been created, you can add the different sectors on the map.
- Click the brush-shaped icon located at the top right of the map to add a sector.
- Draw a new sector on the map.
- Click on Save.
- Define a Name for this area.
- Click on Save.
☝️ Good to know:
To help you create your sectors, you can display customers and vehicles on the map using the “Filter display” button.
Step 4: Assign drivers to a sector
After creating a sector, you can assign one or more agents to it.
- From the panel on the right, identify the sector you have just added and click on “+ Drivers” button.
- Select the drivers to assign to the area.
- Click on Save button.
💡 An agent can only be assigned to one sector.
Delete a sector plan
If you no longer need a sectorisation plan, you can delete it.
To delete a sector plan, follow these steps:
- Go to the Settings module.
- Click on the Sectorisation tab.
- Click on “...” > Delete.
- Click on Confirm.
Conclusion
Sectorisation allows you to organise your jobs by geographical areas and easily assign agents to the right tasks. Once your plans and sectors are configured, route planning becomes simpler and better aligned with your operational needs.
